The discovery course is perfect for those who are not really sure yet if wing foiling is their thing and who are eager to explore this new and exciting sport. It is also for those who just want to have a fun and thrilling day. The discovery course is the same as the first day of the full beginner course.
Luckily for you, you don’t need any previous experience in watersports. Anybody can learn how to wing foil, even if you’ve never done anything similar before. If you already have some experience with watersports, like for example windsurfing, this will give you an advantage and you will improve faster.
What do you learn in the discovery wing foil course?
We will start the course with a brief explanation about the wind and the spot. Its important to know all rules and dangers about the spot where you will be wing foiling.
Than you will learn how to set up an inflatable wing and a foil board. There is a lot of different equipment out there so its good to know what is best for you to use as a beginner.
The next part is practicing with the wing on the beach. Here we will teach you how to hold the wing, how to create power and change directions.
Now it’s time for the real work and we begin with training on our special SUP board. Here you will learn how to stand up on the board and go forward using the wing. The next step is to learn how to switch directions and go upwind (against the wind). You now completed IWO level 1.
After learning all this you are ready to try with the real foil board. You can now decide to take more lessons and start with day 2 of the full beginner course.
